Say it loud....

I’m Black and I’m Proud…

I had the most interesting conversation with one of my Nubian clients who asked me about the percentage of white clients that I have, and the percentage is somewhere around 95%.

Lets just say that majority of my boys are Caucasian.

My Nubian client then asked if I believe the reason for that was because my clients just don’t see my color. But actually, it’s my color that made them come in the first place. For the first time EVER, my blackness is sought after. They are coming to see me because I’m black, and not in spite of it.

It’s a VERY powerful feeling, and I finally get it.

Where most black chicks would get offended, I am honored. To be told a thousand times that there is something marvelous about black women, does wonders for my Nubian Ego. And although most of this fascination is probably sexual and secretive, it is none the less flattering.

But I get it though; it’s the same fascination that I used to have for white skin and it being the polar opposite of my brown skin. I found eroticism in that difference.

From hair follicles to skin texture, there is a difference. So when someone tells me that whites and blacks aren’t that different, I say BULLSHIT! Even a Forensics specialist can see a pile of human bones and tell from certain measurements of the bone structure whether or not the person was black or white. It’s those differences that make us unique and special. So in the end, when someone says: “I don’t see color”, it’s insulting my intelligence. What you should say instead is: "A person’s color is no issue".

Because trust me, the experts say that the first thing a person registers about another is their skin color, especially if the skin different. It’s just human nature to do that.

So embrace our differences, don’t erase it!
